Barbara is a free companion for one of life's hardest stretches. These terms exist mostly to make two things clear: Barbara offers general guidance, not professional advice — and in an emergency, please call 911, not an app.
By using the Barbara mobile application ("the app") or barbaraapp.com ("the site"), you agree to these terms. The app and site are operated by Bulk Buy Splitter, Inc ("we," "us"). If you don't agree with these terms, please don't use Barbara.
Barbara is a free application that offers step-by-step organizational help and emotional support resources for people navigating the days and weeks after the death of a loved one. It provides general information, gentle checklists, and curated links to outside resources.
Barbara is not professional advice. Nothing in the app or on the site is legal, financial, tax, medical, or mental-health advice, and Barbara is not a law firm, accounting firm, or healthcare provider. Barbara's guidance is general and oriented to the United States; laws, deadlines, and procedures vary by state and by situation. For decisions about estates, probate, taxes, insurance, health, or mental health, please consult a qualified professional.
Barbara is not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911. If you are in emotional crisis, call or text the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7. The app can help you place these calls, but the app itself is not a crisis service.
Barbara is for your personal, non-commercial use. You agree not to misuse the app or site — including copying or reselling them, reverse engineering the app, or using either in a way that violates the law or interferes with others' use.
Anything you enter in Barbara — your loved one's name, your answers, your checklist — belongs to you and stays on your device. We never receive it. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.
The app, the site, and their content (text, design, logos) are owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for its intended purpose.
Barbara links to third-party resources — government agencies, support organizations, reference guides — for your convenience. We choose them with care, but we don't control them, don't endorse everything they say, and aren't responsible for their content, accuracy, or practices.
Barbara is free. There are no fees, subscriptions, or in-app purchases. We intend to keep it that way.
Barbara is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We work to keep Barbara's information accurate and current, but we can't promise it is complete, correct, or right for your specific situation, or that the app will always be available or error-free.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bulk Buy Splitter, Inc and its officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app or site. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us to use Barbara — which is zero — or, where the law does not allow such a limit, the smallest amount the law permits.
You agree to hold us harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the app or site or your violation of these terms.
We may update the app, the site, or these terms over time. If these terms change materially, we'll update this page and its effective date. Continuing to use Barbara after a change means you accept the updated terms. We may modify or discontinue features, though our goal is for Barbara to be here when people need it.
These terms are governed by the laws of the District of Columbia, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These terms are the entire agreement between you and us about Barbara.
